2011 Outstanding Dissertation Award Winner

It is with great pleasure that we inform you of the results of the 2011 American Educational Research Association - Arts-Based Educational Research Special Interest Group’s Outstanding Dissertation Award.
The three finalists, determined from a pool of fifteen submissions, were ranked in the following order:
Award Winner: Dr. Moshoula Capous-Desyllas, Portland State University
Study Title: Visions & Voices: An Arts-Based Qualitative Study to Understand the Needs and Aspirations of Diverse Women Working in the Sex Industry
First Runner-Up: Dr. Dana Edell, New York University
Study Title: “Say It How It Is”: Urban Teenage Girls Challenge and Perpetuate Cultural Narratives Through Writing and Performing Theater
Second Runner-Up: Dr. Sophie Tamas, Carleton University
Study Title: Playing the Survivor: How (and if) Women Recover from Spousal Abuse
